Painting is the language through which my soul speaks. It is the canvas where joy and sadness dance, a reflection of the storms and serenity within. I pour my emotions in strokes that defy form, in colors that blaze with boldness, as if my heart has spilled across the surface. Every exaggerated curve, every dynamic brushstroke is a testament to the inner turmoil I face, and yet, beneath the chaos, a quiet whisper of intuition guides my hand. In these abstract depths, I find trust—a journey from conflict to clarity, where emotion breathes and truth unfolds.
Tatum Maya
Expressionist Artist & Designer
An expressionist artist living in Sweden, originally from Sumbawa Besar, Nusa Tenggara Barat Province in Indonesia. In 2010, she moved to Sweden, which then became her second home. Tatum grew up in a multicultural environment which gave her a wider perspective in art, and her work directly reflects this intercultural influence. She believes that culture plays an important role in life as the root of her identity.
Her arts can be experienced through the aforementioned geometric patterns (“Tenun ikat”), human figurative forms and religious symbols, which are intrinsic to existential reflection, and evocative of Western fine art.
She is mostly influenced by her own experience in the effort to express the meaning of her own personal emotions and deeply intrigued on how emotional effects can evoke moods or ideas. It also symbolizes the inner journey traversing the various realms of consciousness, from the material world to the divine.
